Doula: A woman trained and experienced in childbirth, who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a woman during labor, birth and the immediate postpartum period.
Postpartum doulas care for new families in the first weeks after birth providing household help, advice with newborn care and feeding, and emotional support. |
Effects on birth outcomes:
*Labors are shorter.
*There are fewer complications.
*Cesarean rates are reduced.
*There is less need for oxytocin to speed up labor.
*Use of forceps is reduced.
*Women request less pain medications and epidurals.

Labor Support and In-Home Postpartum Care
I offer both labor and postpartum doula services. Whether you choose a natural birth or want medication, VBAC, or scheduled cesarean, my goal is to help you have the birth you want. As a postpartum doula, I want to help those first few weeks with your new baby be as stress-free and relaxed as possible. |
